Hi friends,
Making cough drops from elderberry syrup or elderberry juice was much easier than I thought!
All I did was mix together the following-
3 cups of water and 2 cups of dried elderberries in a saucepan. I cooked them for 30 minutes then drained all of the juice off.
Then in a different saucepan, I added 1/2 cup of honey (you can also use molasses or maple syrup) and 4 Tablespoons of the Elderberry Juice that I made.
Make sure you have a candy thermometer and cook until the mixture reaches 350 degrees. Pour out onto a Silpat mat and let harden.
I dusted mine with cinnamon so that they would not stick to each other.
You can store them in a glass jar or a zip lock bag and use them for coughs or sore throats as needed.
I will link some of the products that I used below.
