Wild Edibles in the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina

Health

11 Apr

For many years, I have been fascinated with foraging for edible plants, berries, and nuts- the way our grandmothers before us did. We are so lucky to have access to books, websites and teachers who know what to eat (and what not to).

I made a graphic for you to download and identify some of the edible plants in our area of North Carolina.

Please note; don’t just go popping anything that looks similar to these plants in your mouth. Not every plant is edible, in fact some can be downright dangerous to eat. Get a good field guide like Peterson Field Guide by Lee Allen Peterson or any of the Golden Field Guides to get you started.

It will open up a whole new world that you never knew! Have fun and let me know what you discover on your property.

xoxo,

Lindy
